Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and optimize pharmaceutical processes, focusing on scalability and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct process research and development (R&D), ensuring the integration of new technologies and process improvements.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, quality assurance, and manufacturing, to ensure smooth transition from lab-scale to commercial-scale production.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve process-related issues during scale-up and commercial production.
  • Develop and implement strategies for process validation and stability studies.
  • Ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and maintain up-to-date documentation of all processes.
  • Analyze process data and performance metrics to drive continuous improvements.
  • Assist in the design and execution of experiments to characterize and optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and regulatory submissions.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers and technical staff.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of chemical process design, unit operations, and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical regulatory requirements (FDA, EMA, etc.) and GMP standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in process simulation and modeling tools, such as Aspen Plus or MATLAB.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis methods and design of experiments (DOE).
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

Experience:

  • 2-4 years of experience in pharmaceutical process development, chemical engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience in process scale-up, optimization, and validation in a pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with designing and conducting experiments and working in a cross-functional team.
  • Previous exposure to the pharmaceutical industry, particularly in a regulated environment, is preferred.

Working Hours:

  • Full-time position, Monday to Friday.
  • Flexible working hours with occasional overtime as required to meet project deadlines.
  • Occasional travel may be required for site visits and client meetings.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical process engineering principles.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet objectives.
  • Strong organizational skills and time management.
  • Proficient in the use of laboratory equipment and process simulation software.
  • Solid understanding of chemical safety and environmental regulations.
  • Knowledge of process development methodologies, including continuous improvement, Lean, and Six Sigma.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and timelines.
