Job Summary
Fresher Jobs is seeking an experienced Outpatient Medical Coder to join our team on a 6-month contract. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in coding outpatient medical records in accordance with industry standards and regulations. You will work closely with healthcare professionals and administrators to ensure the accurate coding and classification of medical procedures and diagnoses, which will be used for insurance billing, compliance, and reporting purposes. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately code outpatient medical records, procedures, diagnoses, and treatments using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
- Review medical charts, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with coding standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and other staff members to clarify diagnoses and procedures when needed.
- Ensure all coding is consistent with payer requirements and accurately represents services rendered.
- Assist in coding audits, ensuring quality control and adherence to coding guidelines.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with healthcare data privacy regulations (HIPAA).
- Prepare coding reports as needed for management and compliance purposes.
- Respond to coding-related inquiries and provide support during audits or investigations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Certification as a Medical Coder (e.g., CPC, CCS, or CCS-P) from a recognized body.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Experience in coding outpatient medical services.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare billing systems.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with healthcare providers and staff.
- Proficient in using medical coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Experience
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a medical coder, specifically in outpatient coding.
- Prior experience working in a healthcare setting or medical practice is preferred.
Working Hours
- Full-time position with flexible working hours.
- This role will be remote but requires alignment with standard business hours (9 AM – 5 PM, Monday through Friday).
