System Administrator/Senior System Administrator

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated System Administrator or Senior System Administrator to join our dynamic IT Infrastructure team. In this role, you will play a critical part in maintaining and enhancing the performance, security, and reliability of our IT systems across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, a proactive mindset, and a passion for solving complex system challenges in a mission-critical environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and support the organizations enterprise IT systems including servers, storage, and virtualization platforms.

  • Monitor system performance and proactively resolve issues to minimize downtime.

  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights in accordance with security policies.

  • Implement system upgrades, patches, and configuration changes as needed.

  • Maintain detailed documentation for system configurations, procedures, and incidents.

  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for escalated IT issues.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure projects and new system implementations.

  • Conduct routine system audits and disaster recovery tests.

  • Ensure systems are compliant with internal security protocols and external regulatory standards.

  • For the Senior System Administrator, additional responsibilities include:

    • Leading project planning and execution for major system upgrades or integrations.

    • Mentoring junior system administrators and serving as a subject matter expert.

    • Assessing system capacity and forecasting infrastructure needs.


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • Professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, CompTIA Server+, Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), or VMware Certified Professional (VCP) are highly preferred.

  • Proficiency in managing Windows and/or Linux server environments.

  • Strong understanding of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).

  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud) is a plus.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Experience

  • System Administrator: Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a system administration or IT infrastructure role.

  • Senior System Administrator: 6+ years of progressive experience, including leadership on technical projects and mentoring team members.


Working Hours

  • Standard full-time schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

  • On-call rotation and occasional after-hours work may be required for system maintenance or emergency response.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Deep understanding of system security and best practices.

  • Proven experience in scripting and automation using tools like PowerShell, Bash, or Python.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
