Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and architect platform products with an enterprise-wide perspective, addressing overarching organizational needs.

  • Act as the Cloud subject matter expert, specializing in Azure and related cloud technologies.

  • Serve as a solution architect for cloud and data initiatives, supporting new application development or migration of existing infrastructure and applications to the cloud.

  • Develop architecture solutions leveraging public, private, or hybrid cloud deployment patterns in line with Optum best practices.

  • Collaborate with IT teams and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable, secure, and reliable cloud solutions.

  • Ensure cloud infrastructure meets standards for security, performance, and reliability.

  • Stay current with emerging cloud technologies, tools, and industry trends to recommend improvements and innovations.

  • Create and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for cloud environments.

  • Lead strategic and architectural discussions with clients, partners, and internal stakeholders.

  • Prepare high-quality, client-ready presentations and materials, and deliver them effectively to clients and executives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • 15+ years of experience in IT, with a focus on software development and solution architecture.

  • 8+ years of experience in cloud architecture and services, with strong expertise in Azure.

  • 5+ years of experience in application modernization and digital transformation initiatives.

  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based tools and applications, including full-stack development (Angular, Java, Python).

  • Proven experience in Data Engineering projects and related cloud-adjacent areas, such as AI and process improvement.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, high-visibility projects from conception through implementation.

  • Experience developing cloud strategies, data modernization plans, architecture, and infrastructure roadmaps for client organizations.

  • Proficiency with Databricks and expertise in data handling and streaming technologies.

  • Knowledge of cloud automation, monitoring, and optimization practices.

  • Experience identifying and mitigating security vulnerabilities in cloud infrastructure.

  • Familiarity with healthcare domain requirements and regulatory standards, including HIPAA, PHI, and PII.

  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile environments.

  • Extensive knowledge of software architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices.

  • Solid expertise in Azure cloud architecture, infrastructure, and deployment patterns.

  • Exposure to AI/ML technologies and their integration with cloud solutions.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Proven ability to leverage tools like GitHub Copilot to accelerate development, improve code quality, and optimize AI workflows.
