About the Role
As a Fleet Maintenance Technician at Walmart, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our operations running smoothly. You’ll be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing a diverse range of fleet equipment, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with all regulatory standards. Your expertise will directly impact the reliability of our transportation network, helping Walmart deliver products to customers on time, every time.
What You’ll Do
- Inspect and Maintain Equipment: Conduct thorough inspections of trailers, tractors, yard trucks, and service vehicles. Identify issues proactively to prevent breakdowns and ensure compliance with DOT regulations.
- Diagnose and Repair: Utilize your mechanical skills and company-standard procedures to diagnose and repair equipment issues. Work on brakes, tires, seals, and other critical systems to maintain safe and efficient operations.
- Work Order Management: Take ownership of the repair workflow by creating, processing, and tracking work orders. Determine the most effective repair solutions and maintain accurate records both digitally and in writing.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with team members, suppliers, and internal customers to coordinate repairs, provide updates, and ensure that maintenance schedules are met.
- Hands-On Expertise: Execute precision repairs, including brake system maintenance, tire installations, seal replacements, and other mechanical tasks. Bring pride, attention to detail, and safety-first mindset to every job.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for efficiency, reliability, and safety improvements in fleet maintenance operations, helping to enhance overall team performance.
What You’ll Bring
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid state-issued driver’s license.
- Brake inspection qualification (per FMCSA Section 396.25).
- Vehicle inspection qualification (per FMCSA Section 396.19).
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in trailer inspection, repair, and mechanical maintenance.
- College or technical school coursework in Heavy-Duty Truck or Trailer Maintenance.
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Brake Certification.
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and valid DOT driver certification.
- 1+ year of experience using computer applications for email, spreadsheets, work orders, and other documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
