Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Structural Design Engineer to lead the design and development of enabling steel structures for Metro projects, both underground and elevated. The ideal candidate will have expertise in modular construction methods, precast element erection, and the design of complex structural systems for tunneling, viaducts, and other metro infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Construction Methods for Metro Systems:
- Lead the design of enabling structures for metro projects, including both underground and elevated metro systems.
- Apply modular construction techniques to improve the efficiency of the building process.
- Design of Key Enabling Structures:
- Design structural solutions for TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) facilities, including temporary and permanent structures.
- Develop designs for struts, walers, traffic decking, and other temporary works critical for metro construction.
- Formwork & Precast Design:
- Design and optimize formwork systems for underground and elevated stations.
- Lead the design of precast element erection systems, including the design of launching girders for the erection of precast box girders.
- Create designs for shortline and longline moulds for precast box girder segment casting.
- Develop mould shutters for I-girders, U-girders, and other custom shapes.
- Pier and Viaduct Design:
- Design pier/pier cap shutters for viaduct construction, ensuring ease of assembly and alignment during casting.
- Develop detailed erection schemes for elevated viaduct structures, including full-span erection of precast box girders.
- Collaboration & Implementation:
- Work closely with fabrication agencies and project teams to ensure smooth implementation of the enabling structures’ design.
- Coordinate with project sites to address challenges, ensure quality, and optimize construction methods.
- Technical Leadership & Innovation:
- Provide leadership in structural design, offering innovative solutions to overcome project challenges.
- Ensure compliance with local and international design codes and standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in designing enabling structures for large-scale infrastructure projects, preferably metro systems.
- Expertise in modular construction, formwork design, and precast concrete erection.
- Strong knowledge of structural analysis and design for underground and elevated metro systems.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD Pro, or similar tools.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with multiple stakeholders, including fabrication teams and project sites.
