About the Role
We’re looking for a Design-Engineer who is passionate about shaping how designers and engineers collaborate to deliver exceptional experiences—quickly and consistently. This is a ground-floor opportunity in our design-driven company, where your work will directly influence both product quality and team efficiency.
In this role, you’ll help our design and engineering teams create more consistent, polished experiences across all products and platforms. You’ll evolve and maintain our design system—including design assets, front-end libraries, infrastructure, and documentation—and develop internal tooling that accelerates delivery without sacrificing quality.
Having a background in design, you understand the challenges of design-engineering collaboration firsthand. You’re motivated to improve workflows because you’ve experienced the friction yourself. You excel in UI and accessible design, enjoy working directly in-browser, and are excited by modern CSS features.
As an individual contributor, you’ll learn from industry leaders while making a tangible impact across our products, helping refine our design and front-end processes to amplify user voices and deliver exceptional experiences every day.
What You’ll Do
- Maintain and evolve our cross-platform design system, ensuring consistency across all products.
- Contribute to product design and user experience by refining processes, documentation, and guidelines.
- Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and design teams to develop tooling that balances speed and quality.
- Champion accessibility and overall product quality, ensuring our bar for excellence remains high.
- Identify areas of improvement in core products, iterate on solutions, and deliver daily value to users.
- Support designers in evolving our long-term product vision, design system, and internal collaboration processes.
- Partner with engineers to create elegant, consistent component APIs that enhance the developer experience.
- Participate in team rituals like design critiques, story creation, and stand-ups.
- Help grow the team by identifying and recruiting top talent to bring diverse perspectives to our work.
What You Need
- 8+ years of experience in tech startups, digital product agencies, or equivalent.
- Strong proficiency with product design tools (preferably Figma).
- Exceptional visual design skills and deep understanding of UX/UI principles, visual design, and interaction design.
- Advanced front-end development skills: semantic HTML, modern CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks (preferably React).
- Experience maintaining a reusable component library and obsessing over design details in code.
- Strong organizational skills and passion for documentation.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to bridge the gap between design and engineering.
Nice to Have
- Ability to clearly articulate complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Solid understanding of accessibility development practices.
