What You’ll Do
- Take ownership of the backend services that power Ramp’s accounting platform, syncs, and rules engine.
- Design and build scalable systems that handle millions of transactions across card, bill pay, reimbursements, treasury, and more.
- Lay the technical groundwork for AI-driven agents to suggest and enforce accounting categorizations.
- Enhance internal developer tooling and interfaces to accelerate team productivity.
- Maintain the highest standards for correctness, observability, and auditability in all systems.
What You’ll Bring
- 3+ years of backend engineering experience, ideally in fintech, accounting technology, or transactional systems.
- Proven experience designing and maintaining distributed systems with strict data integrity requirements.
- Deep understanding of system design, reliability engineering, and service observability.
- Proficiency in Python or a comparable modern backend language.
- Ability to collaborate closely with accounting teams and product stakeholders, translating business needs into clean, maintainable code.
- Passion for building infrastructure that balances precision, performance, and extensibility.
Bonus Points
- Experience with double-entry accounting systems, ERPs, or general ledger tooling.
- Background in compliance-heavy or regulated systems.
- Familiarity with financial integrations such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, or Oracle.
- Interest in working alongside AI/ML teams to create intelligent accounting features.
