Key Responsibilities
- Develop build plans and fabrication processes for aircraft electrical wire harnesses.
- Create and maintain manufacturing documentation including Bills of Materials (BOM), work instructions, and technical illustrations to define as-built configurations for electrical panels, shelves, and wire harnesses.
- Review and approve installation plans in CAPP/MES systems for wire harnesses and component integration into panels and assemblies.
- Support the development and optimization of process sequences by analyzing standards and specifications related to wire harness and panel fabrication.
Process & Manufacturing
- Define and validate fabrication processes including cutting, sorting, color-coding, labeling, kitting, measuring, stripping, crimping, soldering, and routing of wires of various types and gauges.
- Utilize and demonstrate working knowledge of tools and equipment such as wire strippers, crimpers, soldering irons, wire identification systems, cutting machines, and heat guns.
- Conduct Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and producibility studies for wire harness routing and electrical/electronic product installations.
Quality & Compliance
- Develop and implement testing and inspection plans to ensure continuity and proper functioning of wire harnesses, panels, and aircraft electrical systems.
- Perform process audits on fabrication and installation plans to ensure compliance with defined standards.
- Lead implementation of safety procedures, including Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention and resolution of non-conformance issues.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to deliver cross-functional technical solutions.
- Support and mentor team members by enhancing technical capability in DFM and producibility practices.
- Assist in developing and updating installation work instructions for wire harnesses and related components.
Skills Required
- Knowledge of aircraft electrical systems and wire harness manufacturing
- Familiarity with CAPP/MES systems
- Understanding of DFM and producibility principles
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
- Hands-on experience with wire harness tools and fabrication techniques
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
