Role Purpose

To provide comprehensive commercial management across the full lifecycle of contracts — from initial enquiry through to final payment and project close-out.
The role will lead on commercial aspects of key tenders, including preparation of quotations, drafting and negotiating contracts, and managing customer agreements.
You will also provide day-to-day support to the Commercial Manager and wider Commercial team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and respond to customer enquiries and Invitations to Tender (ITTs).

  • Lead negotiations on prime contracts with both UK and international customers, including the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD).

  • Draft and manage a variety of contractual documents, including NDAs, consultancy agreements, software licences, and more.

  • Liaise directly with customers regarding new and existing business — covering terms and conditions, contracts, proposals, and invoicing.

  • Support Programme Managers and Project Teams on contractual matters to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery while mitigating risk.

  • Drive improvements in working capital by optimising payment terms and plans through effective contract negotiation and delivery execution.

  • Actively support trade compliance, including import and export control activities.

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Proven experience in negotiating and managing contracts for the development, delivery, and support of systems and equipment, both domestically and internationally.

  • Strong working knowledge of industrial and commercial contract frameworks, with specific experience in MoD contractual conditions.

  • Excellent commercial acumen and a strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with both internal stakeholders and external clients.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage at all levels and promote a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

  • Effective negotiation and conflict-resolution skills, with a professional and assertive approach.

  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.

  • Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally as required.

  • Flexibility to work overtime or outside normal hours to meet business needs.
