American Airlines is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineer to join our IT Analytics team.   • Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines using modern data engineering tools and frameworks.

  • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand data needs and ensure availability, quality, and accessibility of data.

  • Build and optimize data models, data lakes, and data warehouses that support advanced analytics and reporting initiatives.

  • Implement data governance and security standards across the pipeline architecture.

  • Monitor performance and troubleshoot issues related to data loads, transformations, and integration.

  • Work with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) to deploy and manage cloud-native data solutions.

  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions and provide support for ongoing projects and maintenance activities.

  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and tools in data engineering and recommend improvements.


βœ… Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.

  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, or Scala for data processing and scripting.

  • Strong hands-on experience with ETL tools and frameworks (e.g., Apache Airflow, Informatica, dbt).

  • Experience with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, MongoDB).

  • Experience working in a cloud environment (preferably Azure or AWS).

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

  • Solid understanding of data warehousing, data modeling (Star/Snowflake schema), and performance tuning.

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a Data Engineering, Data Integration, or related role.

  • Experience in building enterprise-grade, high-throughput data solutions.

  • Prior experience in airline, travel, or large-scale enterprise environments is a plus.


⏰ Working Hours

  • Full-time position (40 hours per week)

  • Core working hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM CST

  • Flexibility available for hybrid or fully remote work (based on team/project needs)
