Job Summary
American Airlines is seeking a talented and motivated Data Engineer to join our IT Analytics team. Key Responsibilities

- Collaboration: Work with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet their needs.
- Optimization: Optimize data storage and retrieval processes to ensure efficiency and performance of analytics solutions.
- Maintenance: Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to data pipelines, data quality, and system performance.
- Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for data systems, processes, and workflows.
- Compliance: Ensure data governance and compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are a plus.
- Technical Proficiency: Extensive experience with data engineering tools and technologies, including SQL, Python, Spark, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Data Modeling: Strong understanding of data modeling techniques and database design principles.
- ETL Processes: Proven experience with ETL tools and frameworks such as Apache NiFi, Talend, or Informatica.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data sets and provide actionable insights.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Experience
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in data engineering or a related field, preferably within the airline or travel industry.
- Project Management: Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a track record of meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality results.
Working Hours
- Schedule: Full-time position with flexible working hours. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required based on project needs.
