Job Summary

The Cybersecurity Analyst supports the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of cybersecurity controls across renewable energy assets—including solar, wind, and battery storage systems—to ensure compliance with NERC CIP standards. This role assists with security operations, compliance activities, incident response, and cross-functional collaboration to maintain a secure and compliant environment.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Support deployment, maintenance, and verification of cybersecurity controls to ensure compliance with NERC CIP standards across renewable energy OT and IT environments.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments, log analysis, and security monitoring; identify anomalies and escalate threats to senior cybersecurity personnel.
  • Assist in configuring, deploying, and managing cybersecurity tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and asset monitoring platforms.
  • Collaborate with operations, IT, and compliance teams to gather and maintain evidence for NERC CIP audits (e.g., asset inventories, access controls, change management artifacts).
  • Participate in incident response activities, assisting with investigations, documentation, and post-incident reviews to improve response playbooks and procedures.
  • Drive resolution of moderately complex issues and contribute to team-based problem solving.
  • Represent the cybersecurity team in routine internal and external communications.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and knowledge transfer to junior team members.
  • Lead small-scale process and performance improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications & Education

  • Understanding of NERC CIP standards and regulatory expectations for BES cybersecurity.
  • Hands-on experience with SIEM platforms, vulnerability scanners, endpoint protection tools, and network security solutions.
  • Strong documentation, presentation, and communication abilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree with 2–4 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 0–2 years of experience.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Solid foundation in cybersecurity principles, including network security, vulnerability management, access controls, and incident response.
  • Ability to analyze logs, alerts, and security events across IT and OT environments to identify abnormal activity.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail for maintaining regulatory evidence and compliance documentation.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Basic leadership, coaching, and project management capabilities.
  • Professional communication skills for engaging with internal teams and clients on complex topics.
  • Ability to apply root cause analysis and drive process improvements.
  • Effective team player with the ability to lead small groups when needed.

Required Software Knowledge

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Access, Publisher) and Adobe PDF tools.
  • Experience with SIEM systems, firewalls, and network security tools.

Preferred Experience

  • Prior involvement in NERC CIP compliance efforts, including audit preparation and evidence gathering.
  • Exposure to ICS/OT cybersecurity concepts and technologies used in renewable energy operations.
  • Experience in customer service and process improvement.
  • Background in the green energy or utilities sector.
  • Experience working with U.S.-based organizations.

Preferred Skills & Competencies

  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis capabilities.
  • Ability to convey complex technical information clearly and appropriately for various audiences.
  • Experience coaching peers and contributing to team development.
