Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Family Medicine Biller and Coder to join our team at Fresher Jobs. This role requires a professional who can efficiently manage the billing and coding process for family medicine services from start to finish. As a key part of our healthcare operations, you will ensure accurate coding and billing for patient services, working with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of medical billing practices and be committed to providing high-quality service to patients and healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately assign CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes to patient encounters based on medical records and clinical documentation.
- Review patient charts and documentation to ensure coding compliance and accuracy.
- Submit claims to insurance providers and follow up on unpaid or denied claims.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance policies, billing codes, and reimbursement guidelines.
- Respond to patient and insurance inquiries regarding billing discrepancies, explanations of benefits, and claims status.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and payer-specific regulations, guidelines, and policies.
- Assist with audits and provide support during the internal auditing process to verify the accuracy of coding and billing practices.
- Collaborate with physicians, healthcare providers, and administrative staff to ensure the timely and accurate processing of medical claims.
- Maintain and update patient records, including charge information and financial reports.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Certification in Medical Coding (CPC, CCS, or similar certification).
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and medical billing software.
- Knowledge of family medicine services and common procedures within this specialty.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing processes.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Experience:
- Previous experience in medical billing and coding, ideally in a family medicine or primary care setting.
- Familiarity with billing practices, insurance policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience using medical coding software and EHR systems.
Working Hours:
- Full-time position (40 hours per week).
- Monday to Friday, with occasional flexibility required during peak billing periods.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- In-depth understanding of family medicine codes, billing procedures, and insurance processes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Problem-solving skills to address discrepancies and claim rejections.
