Job Overview

We are seeking a qualified Health and Safety Officer to monitor, enforce, and continuously improve safety practices on active construction sites. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance with OHSA regulations, preventing workplace incidents, and promoting a culture of safety across all levels of the project team.

Ideal for someone with hands-on construction experience and a strong understanding of safety management systems, this role is critical to our commitment to safe, efficient, and responsible building practices.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily safety inspections and audits on-site

  • Enforce compliance with OHSA, local regulations, and company safety policies

  • Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions

  • Deliver safety orientation and toolbox talks to new workers and subcontractors

  • Investigate incidents, near-misses, and prepare detailed reports

  • Maintain all safety documentation including site logs, hazard assessments, and PPE records

  • Coordinate with site supervisors to implement and maintain safety controls

  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and participate in site safety meetings

  • Monitor and manage the use of safety equipment and signage

  • Support the development of emergency response procedures and training


Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years of health and safety experience in the construction industry

  • Completion of a recognized Health and Safety Certification (e.g., CRSP, NCSO, CHSO, COR)

  • Strong knowledge of Canadian OHSA regulations, site safety protocols, and hazard identification

  • First Aid/CPR and WHMIS certification (required)

  • Experience preparing reports, incident logs, and conducting investigations

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to lead by example on-site

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
