Humana Medical Coding Auditor Evaluation & Management Required – Remote EST/CST

Job Summary

Fresher Jobs is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Coding Auditor to join our team in a fully remote capacity. This role is focused on Evaluation & Management (E&M) coding audits to ensure compliance with medical billing standards and improve accuracy in documentation. The ideal candidate will have expertise in medical coding auditing with an emphasis on E&M, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for ensuring high standards in healthcare documentation. This position will require knowledge of industry regulations, the ability to perform thorough audits, and provide insightful feedback to improve accuracy in the coding process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive audits of medical records with a focus on Evaluation & Management (E&M) coding.
  • Review and analyze medical documentation to ensure compliance with payer policies, HIPAA, and healthcare regulations.
  • Identify coding errors, discrepancies, and suggest corrective actions for improved accuracy.
  • Provide feedback to healthcare providers regarding coding issues, offering guidance on best practices.
  • Collaborate with physicians, coders, and healthcare staff to ensure proper documentation and coding practices.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding standards, regulations, and payer-specific requirements.
  • Conduct periodic audits and prepare detailed audit reports.
  • Identify areas for improvement and assist in developing strategies for compliance and accuracy.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and ensure compliance with HIPAA and other applicable privacy regulations.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification.
  • Strong understanding of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and other coding systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of Evaluation & Management (E&M) coding guidelines and requirements.
  • Familiarity with medical billing, coding, and healthcare compliance regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to review complex medical documentation accurately.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and healthcare software systems.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote work environment.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in medical coding auditing, with a focus on Evaluation & Management (E&M).
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting or with a medical coding and billing department preferred.
  • Familiarity with auditing software and tools is a plus.
  • Experience working remotely and managing tasks independently is a plus.

Working Hours

  • Full-time position with flexible hours.
  • Primary working hours will be based on Eastern Standard Time (EST) or Central Standard Time (CST).
  • Occasional weekend work may be required based on project deadlines.
