About the Role
Ramp is, at its core, an engineering-driven company on a mission to build one of the best engineering teams in New York City and San Francisco. As we rapidly scale our mobile app, we’re looking for an Android Engineering Intern to help shape the next generation of Ramp on Mobile.
As an intern, you’ll work closely with experienced engineers, product managers, and designers, gaining hands-on experience while making a lasting impact on our technical foundation and engineering culture.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and launch new features for Ramp’s Android application
- Collaborate with Product and Design to plan and define high-impact user experiences
- Partner with fellow engineers to build and maintain the services that power the mobile app
- Ship production-ready code in cross-functional teams
- Contribute to technical design decisions with long-term impact
- Help improve engineering processes, tools, and systems to support scalability and productivity
What You’ll Need
- Currently pursuing a B.S. or higher in Computer Science or a related technical field, with an expected graduation date between 2026–2028
- Proficiency in Kotlin for Android development
- Solid understanding of the Android SDK and UI components
- Experience contributing to at least one mobile app or multiple shipped features used by real users
- Demonstrated ability to ship high-quality products, whether through internships, coursework, or side projects
- Strong understanding of mobile design patterns and best practices
- Awareness of mobile security best practices
- Enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced environment and continuously improving your craft
- Curiosity and adaptability when learning new technologies
Nice to Have
- Experience with web technologies such as React or TypeScript
- Exposure to backend development (e.g., Python, Flask, SQL, OpenAPI)
- Familiarity with our mobile stack, including Jetpack Compose, MVVM, coroutines, flows, Gradle, OpenAPI, and Buildkite
- Experience managing or publishing apps via the Google Play Console
