Tech Mahindra is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Standard Cell Characterization Engineer to join our semiconductor and VLSI engineering team. This role is critical to ensuring the accuracy, performance, and reliability of standard cell libraries used in advanced integrated circuit design. The selected candidate will work closely with design, verification, and physical implementation teams to deliver high-quality characterized libraries that meet stringent performance, power, and timing requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform standard cell characterization for timing, power, and noise across multiple process corners

  • Generate and validate Liberty (.lib) files for various PVT conditions

  • Run characterization tools to extract delay, power, and constraint models

  • Analyze and debug characterization results to ensure accuracy and consistency

  • Work closely with library design, STA, and physical design teams

  • Validate libraries using industry-standard checks and quality benchmarks

  • Support silicon validation and correlation with characterized models

  • Document methodologies, flows, and best practices

  • Ensure adherence to project timelines and quality standards


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of CMOS digital design fundamentals

  • Hands-on experience with standard cell characterization flows

  • Proficiency with EDA tools used for characterization (e.g., Liberate, SiliconSmart, or equivalent)

  • Solid knowledge of timing analysis, power modeling, and noise analysis

  • Experience working with Liberty format and characterization scripts

  • Familiarity with UNIX/Linux environments and shell scripting

  • Strong analytical and debugging skills

  • Good communication and collaboration abilities


Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline

  • 2–6 years of experience in standard cell characterization or library development

  • Experience working on advanced process nodes is an added advantage

  • Exposure to foundry PDKs and process technologies is preferred
