Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Entry: Accurately input medical billing information into the system, ensuring all details are correct and up-to-date.
  • Claim Scrubbing: Review and scrub claims to ensure they meet the necessary standards for submission to insurance companies and government payers.
  • Denial Management: Analyze and manage claims that have been denied or rejected, identifying the root cause and collaborating with other departments to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Rejection Handling: Work with payers to address rejections, including resubmitting claims or providing additional documentation when necessary.
  • Follow-up: Proactively follow up with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients to ensure claims are processed in a timely manner.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all medical billing practices adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate records of billing issues, claims status, and resolutions for internal reporting purposes.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associates degree in Health Information Technology, Medical Billing, or related field preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding, and billing processes (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS).
  • Proficiency in using medical billing software and other relevant tools (experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems is a plus).
  • Familiarity with insurance policies, including private insurance, Medicaid, and Medicare.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and internal teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with efficiency.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload effectively.

Experience:

  • Prior experience in medical billing or a similar healthcare administrative role is highly preferred.
  • Experience with claim scrubbing, handling denials and rejections is a significant advantage.
  • Experience with medical billing systems and knowledge of electronic claim submission processes.

Working Hours:

  • Full-time position, Monday to Friday.
  • Flexible working hours (Remote option available depending on the candidates location and performance).
  • Occasional overtime may be required to meet deadlines or resolve complex billing issues.
