Job Summary

Plymouth is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Coder to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate coding of medical records to facilitate proper billing, insurance claims, and compliance with healthcare regulations. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and healthcare documentation standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately code medical diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
• Review and analyze clinical documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in documentation.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines and reimbursement policies.
• Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and government payers.
• Assist in audits and provide necessary documentation as required.
• Provide training and support to new coding staff as needed.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and other relevant legal requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent certification.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and coding software.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical coding in a healthcare setting.
• Experience with coding in various specialties is a plus (e.g., inpatient, outpatient, radiology, etc.).
• Familiarity with medical billing processes and insurance claims is essential.

Working Hours

• Full-time position, 40 hours per week.
• Standard business hours: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.
• Occasional overtime may be required based on workload.

• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
