Job Summary
Plymouth is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Coder to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate coding of medical records to facilitate proper billing, insurance claims, and compliance with healthcare regulations. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and healthcare documentation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately code medical diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Review and analyze clinical documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in documentation.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines and reimbursement policies.
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and government payers.
- Assist in audits and provide necessary documentation as required.
- Provide training and support to new coding staff as needed.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and other relevant legal requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent certification.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and coding software.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical coding in a healthcare setting.
- Experience with coding in various specialties is a plus (e.g., inpatient, outpatient, radiology, etc.).
- Familiarity with medical billing processes and insurance claims is essential.
Working Hours
- Full-time position, 40 hours per week.
- Standard business hours: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.
- Occasional overtime may be required based on workload.

- In-depth knowledge of coding practices and standards.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
