Fresher Jobs is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Medical Coding Specialist to join our dynamic team. As a vital part of the healthcare documentation process, you will be responsible for translating medical procedures and diagnoses into universally recognized codes. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate billing and compliance with healthcare regulations, ultimately contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately assign and review codes for various medical procedures, diagnoses, and services using ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure documentation supports coding accuracy.
- Conduct audits and reviews of medical records to identify discrepancies and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Stay updated on changes in coding regulations and billing practices, ensuring adherence to current standards.
- Provide training and support to staff on coding procedures and compliance requirements.
- Resolve coding-related inquiries from insurance companies and healthcare providers.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Certification as a Medical Coding Specialist (CPC, CCS, or equivalent) is preferred.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Proficiency in using coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding and documentation.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex information.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for interactions with healthcare professionals and administrative staff.
Experience
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in medical coding, preferably in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Familiarity with healthcare billing processes and insurance claims.
Working Hours
- Full-time position, Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. Flexibility may be required based on departmental needs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of coding guidelines, regulations, and compliance issues.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and medical coding software.
