Position Title: Patrol Officer (Certified and Non-Certified)

Position Overview:
The Patrol Officer is responsible for enforcing the laws of the State of New Hampshire and the ordinances of the Town of Merrimack. This role requires the effective and professional performance of all duties in accordance with the policies, procedures, and regulations of the Merrimack Police Department.
Key Responsibilities:
* Enforce state laws and local ordinances with integrity and fairness.
* Respond to both emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
* Identify criminal activity and, when appropriate, apprehend offenders.
* Conduct preventative patrols to deter crime and ensure public safety.
* Assist individuals who may be in danger or require police intervention.
* Manage and facilitate the safe movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
* Identify and address potential public safety or law enforcement concerns.
* Build and maintain strong relationships within the community to foster a sense of safety and trust.
* Preserve public peace and order through visible presence and proactive policing.
* Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
* High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution is required.
* Current full-time or part-time police officers in the State of New Hampshire must be certified by the NH Police Standards and Training Council (PSTC). Certified officers are exempt from the written examination portion of the selection process.
* All applicants must meet the minimum qualification standards set by the New Hampshire PSTC.
