Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize database architectures to support application development and business requirements.
• Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Develop and enforce database policies, procedures, and standards to ensure data integrity and security.
• Collaborate with software developers to create database schemas that align with application requirements.
• Conduct data modeling and data migration activities to support system upgrades and new implementations.
• Perform regular database backups, recovery, and restoration processes.
• Analyze and improve database performance using tuning and optimization techniques.
• Document database designs, configurations, and procedures for knowledge sharing and compliance.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Database Administrator or Platform Engineer with a focus on database systems.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or Microsoft SQL Server.
• Familiarity with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database).
• Experience with database performance tuning and optimization techniques.
• Knowledge of data security and compliance best practices.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Experience

• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in database administration or platform engineering roles.
• Experience with high-volume databases and data warehousing solutions is a plus.
• Previous experience in an Agile development environment is preferred.

Working Hours

• Full-time position with standard working hours from 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday.
• Flexibility to work outside of standard hours may be required for system maintenance or upgrades.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• In-depth knowledge of database technologies and architectures.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation of database tasks.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools is an advantage.
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly and adapt to changing environments.
