Optum AI is seeking a visionary Principal of AI/ML Engineering to lead and expand our India-based Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning team. In this leadership role, you will collaborate with world-class engineers and scientists to design, develop, and deploy advanced AI/ML solutions that transform healthcare outcomes globally. You will define the strategic direction of AI/ML initiatives, guide the technical roadmap, and ensure successful integration of AI-driven systems across Optums business landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and execute the strategic vision for AI and machine learning across multiple healthcare domains.
- Drive the design, development, and deployment of innovative AI/ML models and systems.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to identify high-impact opportunities for AI/ML applications.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to AI/ML engineers and data scientists.
- Stay at the forefront of emerging AI technologies and trends, integrating them into business solutions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with global stakeholders, partners, and leadership teams.
- Champion best practices in AI/ML engineering, including model governance, ethics, and scalability.
- Represent Optum AI in internal and external forums, showcasing our innovation and technical excellence.
- Ensure full compliance with company policies, directives, and evolving business requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- 12+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Data Science, or Analytics, including 8+ years in AI/ML engineering leadership roles.
- Proven expertise with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Hands-on experience with DevOps and CI/CD tools like Git, Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Deep proficiency with AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, MLFlow, Keras, and Scikit-learn.
- Demonstrated success in leading AI/ML projects from concept through deployment and performance evaluation.
- Strong command of Python, R, or similar programming languages for AI/ML development.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex AI concepts to diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a pragmatic and innovative mindset.
- A deep passion for continuous learning and staying ahead of AI/ML advancements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
- Experience leading global, cross-functional, and distributed teams.
