Job Purpose:
To lead and manage paint shop operations, ensuring high-quality workmanship, regulatory compliance, and efficient execution of tasks. The role focuses on supervising painting activities, mentoring team members, optimizing workflow, and maintaining strict adherence to safety and quality standards while ensuring timely completion of maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
- Supervise and perform complex or extensive paint tasks.
- Ensure accurate man-hour bookings for routine and non-routine task cards; review rosters and control overtime.
- Oversee daily operations, delegating tasks efficiently to maintain workflow and minimize downtime.
- Review task cards with painters to ensure clear understanding of work scope, priorities, documentation requirements, and cautions prior to task commencement.
- Perform defect rectification in accordance with approved maintenance data.
- Sign off maintenance tasks within authorized scope, verifying completion of task cards and associated documentation to required standards.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Prepare shift rosters for the paint team and ensure adequate coverage.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and career development support to team members.
- Foster a performance-driven, engaged, and committed team environment.
- Handle people management responsibilities in line with company procedures, including performance management.
Compliance and Safety:
- Maintain strict adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Ensure all maintenance and painting activities comply with approved procedures and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of painting tools, equipment, materials, and application techniques.
- Relevant academic or technical training in painting or aircraft maintenance is preferred.
Work Experience (External Applicants):
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience performing paint maintenance on large commercial aircraft, preferably Airbus types.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Base Maintenance Workshop environment.
