Key Responsibilities
- Collect and transport waste and recyclable materials from residential, commercial, and industrial locations.
- Operate collection vehicles in a safe and efficient manner, following all traffic and safety regulations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and compliance.
- Maintain cleanliness of collection vehicles and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with team members and the public regarding collection schedules and services.
- Assist in the training of new staff members as required.
- Report any issues or concerns related to collection routes or equipment to management.
- Participate in recycling initiatives and promote sustainable practices within the community.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery or commercial vehicles, as required.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Basic problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Experience
- Previous experience in waste management, sanitation, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Experience operating large vehicles or machinery is a plus.
- Familiarity with local waste management regulations and procedures is advantageous.
Working Hours
- Full-time positions available with varied schedules, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Overtime may be required based on operational needs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of safety protocols and practices related to waste collection.
- Physical ability to lift and carry heavy loads, often exceeding 50 pounds.
- Capacity to work in various weather conditions and outdoor environments.
